"We were on a multiday traverse through the major canyons of Bears Ears—'we' meaning Luke Nelson, Jared Campbell and Matt Irving. Our group started near the Colorado River, with a plan to spend three or four days running to the San Juan River linking Dark, Woodenshoe, Natural Bridges, Pine-Step, Grand Gulch and Slickhorn canyons.
